Controversy Deepens Over Inconsistent CTC As Kano Governor’s Legal Team Clashes With Court Of Appeal Judges

A heated dispute has erupted between the legal representatives of Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State and the justices of the Court of Appeal concerning the conflicting certified true copy (CTC) of the judgment leading to his removal from office.
The latest development in the CTC controversy unfolded as both parties rejected the service of fresh legal documents related to the case.
Governor Yusuf’s legal team filed a new notice of appeal at the Supreme Court, aiming to uphold the portions of the judgment favoring their client while challenging those against him.
However, the Court of Appeal staff declined to accept the documents, prompting the legal team to deliver them to the Kano Division of the court, where they were received with revenue collector’s receipt number: 13164334.
Simultaneously, the Court of Appeal officials dispatched letters to all parties’ counsels, requesting the return of the CTCs for corrections, an offer Governor Yusuf’s legal team declined.
In the previous ruling led by Justice Moore Adumein on Friday, a three-member panel reaffirmed Governor Abba Yusuf’s ousting from office, citing alleged non-qualification due to non-membership in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
However, in the CTC, the appellate court endorsed the issues raised by Governor Yusuf, nullified the tribunal’s judgment, and awarded a cost of N1 million in his favor against Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
