On Wednesday, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni met with Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa to address the escalating terrorist attacks in the state. The meeting, held in Abuja and following a prior discussion with the Chief of Army Staff, focused on enhancing security measures.
Governor Buni voiced his concerns over recent terrorist incursions affecting border communities, leading to significant loss of lives and property. Despite general security improvements, recent attacks in Mafa, a village near Borno State, and Geidam, close to the Niger Republic, have resulted in fatalities.
“I have thoroughly discussed with the Defence Chief to find lasting solutions to these border attacks,” Buni said, noting that he was encouraged by the new strategies proposed by General Musa.
General Musa assured the deployment of additional troops and the adoption of innovative tactics to counter the terrorist threats. He highlighted the need for effective collaboration between the armed forces and local communities to combat terrorism more successfully throughout the country.
