The Federal Government has deployed a dedicated passport intervention team to the United Kingdom to clear pending applications and process new and renewal requests from Nigerians living in the country.
The team, dispatched by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) on the directive of Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is expected to arrive in the UK on Monday and work with the Nigerian High Commission to facilitate passport enrolment and processing.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the NIS said the team would visit designated cities across the UK as part of the intervention exercise.
The initiative is open to Nigerians with pending passport applications, first-time applicants and passport holders whose documents have less than one year to expiry and are seeking renewal.
Applicants are required to present their completed application forms and evidence of payment during the enrolment process.
The immigration service said it would publish a detailed schedule containing the cities to be visited, dates, venues, enrolment times and other arrangements for the exercise.
The NIS advised applicants not to visit any location until the official schedule is released, urging them to monitor the communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission in the UK for updates.
The intervention is part of efforts by the Federal Government to improve passport services and address outstanding applications among Nigerians in the diaspora.
