ICPC Questions Ex-Minister Chris Ngige Over Contract and Job Racketeering Allegations

Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has been questioned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over allegations of contract irregularities and job racketeering during his tenure.

According to Daily Trust, Ngige was invited to clarify matters related to contracts awarded under the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) during his time in office. The investigation is centered around a multi-million naira electronic project approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, which was reportedly abandoned.

An ICPC source revealed that Ngige was invited while he was in the United States for medical reasons. Upon his return, the former minister voluntarily attended the inquiry and provided the necessary information. An associate close to Ngige emphasized that he was not arrested but cooperated with the commission to resolve the issues and has since left the ICPC’s headquarters in Abuja.
