Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dedicated a prestigious award to his long-time political rival, Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
This gesture comes despite a longstanding feud between the two, which began in 2015 when Amaechi left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amaechi, who served as Rivers State governor for two terms, initiated the College of Medical Sciences project at the Rivers State University (RSU) during his tenure. Although he was unable to complete it before leaving office, Wike, his successor, carried the project forward, culminating in the matriculation of the first batch of medical students in 2018.
On Thursday, February 6, during the induction ceremony of the first set of RSU medical graduates into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Amaechi honored Wike for his contribution to the completion of the college project.
Dr. Fatima Kyari, Acting Registrar of the MDCN, expressed her appreciation to Amaechi for initiating the project and praised the induction ceremony as the beginning of a new chapter for the graduates, further supporting the health sector renewal initiative.
