African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has challenged politicians seeking the presidency in 2027 to build their own political structures rather than depend on godfathers, wealthy backers or established parties.

Sowore, in a statement shared on his social media page, questioned why politicians who claim to enjoy strong support among Nigerians frequently move from one political platform to another instead of building movements of their own.

He argued that genuine political strength should be measured by grassroots mobilisation, organisation and the ability to sustain an independent political movement.

“If their ideas are so compelling, let them organize. If their platforms are so popular, let them mobilize. If their politics is so powerful, let them build,” Sowore said.

Defending the AAC, the former presidential candidate said the party was built through the commitment, sacrifice and contributions of its members rather than the backing of wealthy individuals or political elites.

He also accused some politicians of attempting to persuade supporters to abandon platforms they helped build in favour of new alliances centred on individual ambitions.

According to Sowore, politicians who genuinely believe in their ideas should be prepared to establish and sustain their own political structures rather than depend on organisations created by others.

“We built ours with our sweat and blood. Let them build theirs,” he said.

Sowore’s remarks come amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election, with politicians and political groups exploring new alliances and platforms as preparations for the presidential contest intensify.
