Wendy Williams was transported by ambulance from an assisted living facility in Midtown Manhattan to Mount Sinai West hospital on Monday morning, according to sources.
Police and emergency responders arrived at the facility in Hudson Yards after a 911 call reported a woman in distress.
Two NYPD officers and a sergeant responded alongside the fire department, following standard protocol.
Williams was calm upon their arrival, was not restrained, and walked into the ambulance on her own, sources said.
Authorities are treating the incident as a routine wellness check, and there is no ongoing NYPD investigation.
Nearly a month ago, Williams spoke with ABC’s “Nightline”, detailing her court-ordered guardianship and living situation.
“I don’t belong here at all. This is ridiculous,” Williams said, referring to the memory care unit she has been placed in.
She has been under legal guardianship since 2022, restricting her control over her finances and personal affairs.
In February 2024, Williams’ medical team confirmed that she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023.
Aphasia gradually impairs language and communication abilities, according to the National Aphasia Association.
Dementia affects memory, thinking, and decision-making, per the CDC.
Her team stated that the decision to go public with her diagnosis was made to raise awareness and advocate for compassion toward others facing similar conditions.
Lifetime’s two-night documentary event, “Where is Wendy Williams?”, explored her life after leaving daytime television, offering a rare look into her private struggles and health battles.
As Williams continues to navigate her legal and medical challenges, her latest hospitalization raises further concerns about her ongoing well-being.
