A school bus carrying 31 passengers, including students, overturned on the Garden State Parkway in Montvale, New Jersey, on Monday night, leaving more than a dozen people injured, officials said.

According to Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali, the bus was en route to New York State when it crashed just before the James Gandolfini Service Area at around 7:30 p.m.

One student was critically injured but has since regained a pulse, the mayor confirmed in a Facebook post.

13 passengers were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

No fatalities have been reported.

The bus was reportedly transporting students celebrating the birth of a rabbi’s grandchild, though further details about the trip have not been disclosed.

Authorities have not yet determined what caused the bus to overturn or whether other vehicles were involved.

The investigation remains ongoing, as officials work to determine the circumstances leading to the crash.
