Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, has disclosed that President Bola Tinubu is exerting intense pressure on security agencies to end insecurity across the country.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa, Badaru stated that Tinubu has been actively engaging security heads, demanding a concrete timeline for resolving the nation’s security challenges.
“We are under Tinubu’s pressure to end insecurity in Nigeria. He constantly inquires about when the problem will be resolved because it is high time insecurity is tamed,” Badaru said.
He revealed that a recent high-level security meeting was held with the president, the service chiefs, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, where Nigeria’s security situation was thoroughly analyzed.
“At the meeting, Mr. President demanded that the service chiefs give him a specific timeframe for resolving the security crisis. They assured him that things would normalize by the end of the year,” he added.
Badaru emphasized that the service chiefs are fully committed to combating terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping, taking decisive measures to dismantle criminal networks across various regions.
