Chief Olabode George, former Deputy National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has strongly condemned the invasion of the party’s national secretariat by thugs, calling the act “despicable, horrific, inhuman, and wicked.”
The incident, which disrupted the 79th Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting in Abuja, involved hired thugs wreaking havoc at the PDP headquarters. George described the attack as “sacrilegious” and urged all who believe in democracy to condemn the violence.
“As a life member of the Board of Trustees and a moral guide of our party, I feel compelled to raise the alarm. What happened on Wednesday is a disgrace and must be condemned by all who believe in democracy,” George stated.
He warned that without unity and accountability, the PDP faces imminent disaster in 2027. The party’s current turmoil, according to George, is a result of internal crises. He called for immediate action to prevent the party from collapsing, urging party elders to intervene and stop the disruptive elements. “The PDP is the only true national party; the APC is merely a coalition of strange bedfellows,” he added.
George also addressed national issues, criticizing President Bola Tinubu for failing to address the country’s economic challenges. “Nigerians are hungry and angry. As the Commander-in-Chief, Tinubu must address the economic malaise,” he urged.
He pointed to rising living costs since Tinubu’s assumption of office, with petrol prices soaring and the Naira’s exchange rate plummeting. “When he assumed office in 2023, a litre of petrol was below N200 and the exchange rate was under N800 to a dollar. What has changed? Nigerians deserve answers,” he said.
George further expressed concerns about regional instability, particularly the growing tensions between Francophone countries and their former colonial master, France. “We must prepare for the impact of the New World Order. Our stability is at risk. It’s time to discuss how to safeguard Nigeria’s future,” he concluded.
