President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emphasized the need for Africa to harness its resources, people, and capacity for self-development, asserting that the time to act is now.
Speaking in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, during a meeting with Rwandan President Paul Kagame, Tinubu underscored the importance of intra-African trade and collaboration to drive progress across the continent.
In a post shared on his official X handle, @officialABAT, Tinubu wrote:
“Africa has what it takes to develop itself. We have the resources, the people, and the capacity. We must look inward to improve intra-African trade and collaboration to benefit the African people and the continent. The time for Africa is now.”
The two leaders are attending the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week summit, held from January 12 to 18, on the invitation of Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.
According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu is expected to use the summit to highlight his administration’s reform agenda, focusing on key areas such as energy sufficiency, transportation, public health, and economic development.
Tinubu’s engagement with Kagame and other global leaders at the summit signals his administration’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and addressing critical challenges in Africa through sustainable solutions.
