The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, has pledged to abide by the recent Court of Appeal ruling affirming Sunday Udeh-Okoye as its National Secretary.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, emphasized the PDP’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.
“The party received the judgment of the Court of Appeal on December 24, 2023, which affirmed Udeh-Okoye as the National Secretary,” Ologunagba said. “As a law-abiding organization, the PDP will comply with the rulings of both the High Court and the Court of Appeal.”
The judgment upheld a prior High Court ruling that removed Senator Samuel Anyanwu from the position.
“We respect the judicial process and its finality,” Ologunagba noted. “The PDP has consistently adhered to court orders, and this case is no different. We will ensure full compliance with the court’s pronouncement.”
The PDP reaffirmed its identity as a party committed to the rule of law and adherence to judicial pronouncements, portraying the move as part of its broader dedication to democratic principles.
This development signals the party’s continued respect for legal processes in resolving internal disputes.
