Former Deputy Senate President and Delta APC governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has declared that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa will not be accepted into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Monday during a meeting with APC leaders in Ika South and Ika North East LGAs, Omo-Agege stated that while the party is open to welcoming Senator Ned Nwoko and some lawmakers, it has no interest in admitting Oborevwori and Okowa.
He dismissed claims that APC had lost influence in Delta State, emphasizing the party’s electoral strength.
“After the 2023 elections, PDP spread false propaganda that APC no longer exists in Delta. Yet, APC won two senatorial seats and two House of Reps seats. Now, the only PDP senator is set to join APC. So, are we not the majority party?” he asked.
Despite a PDP governor and a former vice-presidential candidate in Ika South and Ika North East, Omo-Agege noted that APC still secured the required 25% of votes in the last election.
He reassured party members that internal disputes within Delta APC would be resolved before the 2027 elections, urging them to focus on PDP’s challenges rather than APC’s internal disagreements.
“We should stop focusing on our internal issues and instead take advantage of PDP’s bigger problems. Are we even sure PDP will still exist in 2027?” he said.
Crediting President Bola Tinubu’s policies for boosting APC’s appeal in Delta, Omo-Agege revealed that more PDP lawmakers were set to defect.
“Soon, we will have three senators, and I am aware that the three PDP House of Reps members are joining APC. Some House of Assembly members will also join us.
“We welcome everyone except Oborevwori and Okowa. They should remain in PDP and rebuild their party,” he stated.
He also accused Governor Oborevwori’s administration of suppressing House of Assembly members, alleging that lawmakers who speak out risk suspension.
APC National Publicity Secretary, Barr. Felix Morka, assured party members that the APC National Chairman and key stakeholders are committed to resolving internal issues in Delta State ahead of the 2027 elections.
