NSCDC Boss Urges Patience with Tinubu’s Economic Reforms

The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Audi, has urged Nigerians to remain patient with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, assuring that the country will recover soon.

Speaking on Tuesday at the opening of a five-day training for senior NSCDC officers in Abuja, Audi emphasized the need for citizens to support government policies and pray for national progress.

“We need to have some patience and follow very closely the economic policies put in place, as in no distant time, the country will be back on its feet,” he stated.

He acknowledged the challenges Tinubu inherited, describing the situation as an “almost battered institution.”

“It is very easy to destroy but very difficult to rebuild. We are lucky to have a true democrat as our president—one who has passed through the crucifix of democracy and has a deep passion for the nation,” Audi added.

The training, themed “Common Ground Approach, Early Warning, and Response to Conflict,” aims to enhance the corps’ capacity to detect and address emerging security threats.

Audi highlighted NSCDC’s strong collaboration with other security agencies, particularly in personnel training, and stressed the importance of discipline in security operations.

“Discipline starts from training, and we must harness and leverage the experience gained here to move forward,” he told participants, urging them to pass on their knowledge to subordinates.

In her remarks, the Country Director of Search for Common Ground, Fatima Abubakar, represented by the Director of Programmes, Gift Owonipa, said the training would equip NSCDC officers with critical skills for conflict detection and resolution.

“You will be exposed to real-world scenarios and techniques that will help de-escalate tensions and promote constructive engagements within communities,” she said.

She also commended NSCDC personnel for their resilience and dedication to safeguarding lives and property.
