Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening the education sector, promising enhanced support for state-owned tertiary institutions.
Speaking on Friday in Ibadan during the inauguration of governing councils for Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, and Abiola Ajimobi Technical University, Ibadan, the governor emphasized that education remains a cornerstone of his administration.
Makinde noted that the state’s ongoing education reforms are already yielding visible results. He announced that the government would review subventions to both institutions to ensure more effective funding.
In a bid to improve campus welfare and healthcare access, the governor also revealed plans to establish Primary Health Care Centres on the campuses of the two universities before the end of the year.
“The governing councils of both universities have important roles to play. They are responsible for overseeing strategic development, including academic direction,” Makinde stated.
At the ceremony, Prof. Ayodeji Omole was inaugurated as chairman of the LAUTECH governing council, while Dr. Adesola Adeduntan was named chairman of the governing council for Abiola Ajimobi Technical University.
