The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has condemned the violent attack on party members, coordinators and supporters of the Obidient Movement in Delta State.
Obi, in a post on his verified X handle, said he was saddened and deeply disturbed by reports of attacks on his coordinators, supporters and other citizens, warning that such incidents would no longer be tolerated.
“I unequivocally condemn the attacks against our coordinators, supporters, and fellow citizens who were merely exercising their democratic rights. We won’t take this anymore,” he said.
The former Anambra State governor described political violence as unacceptable in a democracy, insisting that it could never be justified.
He expressed concern that some individuals still resort to thuggery, intimidation and violence to gain political influence at a time when Nigeria needs responsible leadership.
Obi called on the government and security agencies to launch an immediate and thorough investigation into the attacks, identify those responsible and ensure they are brought to justice, regardless of their political affiliations.
