A Kano State High Court has scheduled April 15, 2025, for the hearing of all pending preliminary objections in the bribery and misappropriation case against Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), his wife, Hafsat Umar, and six others.
The Kano State Government has filed an eight-count charge against the defendants, accusing them of bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of naira. Other defendants in the case include Abubakar Bawuro, Umar Abdullahi Umar, Jibrilla Muhammad, Lamash Properties Limited, Safari Textiles Limited, and Lasage General Enterprises Limited.
During Thursday’s proceedings, prosecution counsel Adeola Adedipe, SAN, expressed readiness to proceed, noting that a motion had been filed to extend the time for regularizing a preliminary objection.
Counsel for Ganduje, his wife, and Umar, Mrs. Lydia Oluwakemi-Oyewo, also confirmed their readiness, but some defense lawyers requested additional time to regularize their legal processes.
Justice Amina Adamu-Aliyu granted the applications for an extension of time and adjourned the case to April 15, 2025, for the hearing of all pending preliminary objections before the trial begins.
The high-profile case, which has drawn significant public interest, is expected to set the stage for legal proceedings against Ganduje and his co-defendants.
