Governor Monday Okpeholo has approved the promotion of 8,476 primary and junior secondary school teachers across the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Edo State, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to improving the education sector.
Announcing the development, Onomen Briggs, Executive Chairman of Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo-SUBEB), described the move as part of the governor’s resolve to reward hard work.
“It is the commitment of Governor Monday Okpeholo to ensure that every teacher receives the recognition he or she deserves. By directing the release of these promotion letters, Governor Okpeholo is not only acknowledging their hard work but also taking a firm step towards enhancing the overall quality of education in Edo State,” Briggs stated.
She further noted that the governor’s proactive leadership has revitalized the basic education sector, with ongoing reforms prioritizing both educators and students.
The promotion, covering advancements from 2022 to January 2024, is expected to boost teachers’ morale, following years of stagnation that hindered career progression.
Stakeholders have praised the initiative, expressing optimism that improved teacher satisfaction will translate into better classroom performance and a more dynamic learning environment.
“This bold action underscores Governor Okpeholo’s dedication to transforming the education sector and ensuring that past administrative delays do not impede progress.
