Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called for stronger political alignment between states in the South-East, particularly Anambra, and the ruling party to promote economic and political progress.
During the inauguration of the APC state secretariat in Awka, Ganduje highlighted the party’s commitment to helping Anambra connect with the federal government ahead of the November elections.
He praised the Igbo people as the most nationalistic tribe in Nigeria and emphasized that their full potential could be unlocked through active participation in the APC. “We must be focused, we must have plans, we must have vision, and I can see that the party in Anambra is fully aware of that,” Ganduje said.
Ganduje also urged the South-East to integrate into the national political grid, pointing to the region’s underdevelopment in areas like electrification. “You are under rural electrification; you are under generator, and this is unacceptable,” he remarked, calling for greater integration into national frameworks.
Referring to the historical significance of the region, Ganduje acknowledged the contributions of leaders like Ojukwu and Nnamdi Azikiwe to Nigeria’s unity.
He reaffirmed his commitment to linking Anambra to the national political structure, starting with the upcoming gubernatorial elections.
At the event, APC governorship aspirants Sir Paul Chukwuma and Professor Obiora Okonkwo pledged their dedication to ensuring the APC’s success in Anambra. Chukwuma declared, “Today marks the beginning of victory for APC in Anambra,” while Okonkwo promised, “If you give me the ticket, I will give you the C of O of the Anambra government house.”
