Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Slashes Transport Fares by 25%”

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has declared a 25% reduction in transport fares for government-owned transport services, announcing the decision during a live media chat on Thursday.
The move aims to alleviate the economic burden on Lagos residents, according to Sanwo-Olu, who highlighted previous efforts including a 50% fare reduction initiated in August last year.
“We started something last year from August when we had a 50% reduction on all public transportation,” the governor said.
“It was stopped towards the end of the years when things resumed back but now I think transport cost is a major thing for our citizens.
“Almost immediately from this weekend, we’re throwing back a 25% reduction on all public transportation. We’re working with the various unions to ensure that we also can support them. But on our BRT, on our trains, on our ferry services, you going to begin to enjoy that almost immediately from this weekend.
“I’ve given an instruction, so they are working on the logistics for that.”
Additionally, the governor disclosed plans to introduce a flexible workweek for civil servants, with employees from levels 1 to 14 required to work from their offices for three days a week.
For higher levels (15 to 17), four days of office presence will be mandated.
This innovative policy shift seeks to enhance productivity and job satisfaction among the state’s public sector workforce, reflecting the government’s commitment to modernizing work practices in Lagos.
