On Wednesday evening, a shooting incident unfolded on a major shopping street in central Brussels, resulting in injuries to four individuals, as confirmed by the city’s police.
The assailants had fled the scene by the time the police responded to the incident around 7:30 pm (1830 GMT), according to police spokeswoman Ilse Van de Keere.
She emphasized that, at present, there is no indication that the shooting constitutes a terrorist act. However, one of the wounded individuals is reportedly in critical condition.
The shots were fired on the bustling Avenue de la Toison d’Or, a commercial thoroughfare close to a covered passageway housing upscale fashion boutiques. Belgian media reported the evacuation of this passageway in response to the incident.
