APC Bauchi Race: Abubakar Emerges Winner Over Tuggar

Former Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 elections after defeating former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and five other aspirants in the party’s primary.

The results, announced on Saturday by John Abang, chairman of the APC governorship and House of Assembly primary committee in the state, showed that Abubakar secured 57,517 votes to clinch the ticket.

Tuggar came second with 26,001 votes, while Nura Manu Soro polled 13,638 votes. Bala Wunti recorded 13,648 votes, and Kabir Ma’aji scored 8,157 votes.

Abang stated that the votes were collated from across the state before Abubakar was declared the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 governorship election.

Recall that Tuggar resigned from his ministerial position on March 30 following a directive linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, requiring political appointees seeking elective office in 2027 to step down.
