Rotimi Amaechi has formally entered the 2027 presidential race after obtaining the presidential nomination form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The form was collected on his behalf on Friday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja by a delegation led by former Edo State governor, John Odigie-Oyegun.
ADC Deputy National Organising Secretary, Atiku Mohammed, presented the forms to Amaechi’s representatives.
With the move, Amaechi becomes the second aspirant to officially join the ADC presidential contest after Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who had earlier obtained both the expression of interest and nomination forms.
The development comes amid internal leadership disputes and multiple court cases within the ADC, tensions that contributed to the departure of notable political figures such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
However, ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, insisted that the defections were pre-planned and unrelated to the party’s internal crisis.
Despite the legal battles, ADC National Chairman, David Mark, has assured members that the party remains committed to fully participating in the 2027 general elections.
