President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to head the Directorate of Air Mobilisation for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 re-election campaign.
Under the arrangement, Keyamo will serve as Director, while the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Olubunmi Kuku, has been appointed Deputy Director I. Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar will serve as Deputy Director II.
The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Sunday by Keyamo’s Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood.
According to the statement, the directorate will coordinate air transportation and logistics for campaign officials and personnel travelling across the country’s six geopolitical zones.
It is also expected to work with other campaign structures to ensure efficient travel planning, scheduling and deployment of logistical resources, in compliance with aviation regulations and electoral laws.
The statement said Keyamo’s experience as aviation minister was expected to support the directorate’s operations, citing his involvement in initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s aviation sector, improving its international standing and positioning the country as a major aviation hub in Africa.
It added that the appointments of Kuku and Umar would bring aviation-sector leadership and technical expertise to the directorate.
The statement further emphasised the need for coordination with other campaign directorates, clear operational procedures and compliance with aviation safety requirements.
It also stressed that campaign activities must remain separate from official government functions, with campaign-related arrangements conducted through properly authorised channels.
The Directorate of Air Mobilisation is expected to support the APC’s broader preparations for the 2027 general election through coordinated air travel and campaign logistics.
