Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has declared his support for President Bola Tinubu and the Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging his supporters to embrace peace and move beyond the state’s political crisis.
Fubara made the declaration in a video shared on X, where he also endorsed Kingsley Chinda, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State.
“We have made peace in the state, and I am supporting the Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our president, and he is the one we are supporting,” Fubara said.
The governor urged his supporters to rally behind Chinda, insisting that those who believed in him should also support the governorship candidate.
“Chinda is the governorship candidate that I am supporting, and everybody who believes in me will support,” he said.
Fubara dismissed suggestions that his supporters needed to receive anything in return before backing the coalition, saying he had returned to his political family and urging his followers across the state to give the coalition their full support.
He said Rivers State must move forward after the political crisis that had affected the state, declaring that the period of conflict should give way to peace.
“We need to move forward. The time of war is over. This is the time of peace, and this peace is taking us to another level,” he said.
The governor also cautioned his supporters against interpreting his position as an attempt to seek personal political support, stressing that his stance on the coalition was clear.
Fubara added that he would not support any political move capable of creating further problems for Rivers State.
“I have done what I need to do, and for now, we are moving forward,” the governor added.
