African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has rejected the opposition coalition led by Atiku Abubakar, describing its members as no different from President Bola Tinubu and accusing them of seeking power rather than saving Nigeria.
Sowore made the remarks during an interview on the Deep Insight Podcast on Monday, insisting that he would not join what he described as a coalition of “indecent people” simply to remove Tinubu from office.
“Opposition coalition members are not different from Tinubu. They are all the same. I can’t be part of a coalition of indecent people just to remove Tinubu,” he said.
The activist argued that Nigeria needed a genuine political alternative rather than a return to power by established politicians he blamed for the country’s problems.
Separately, Sowore announced plans to launch a campaign against Tinubu’s administration in Abuja, declaring that the “Tinubu Must Go” rally would begin on Tuesday.
He spoke to supporters at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday after a hearing in the case filed against him by the Department of State Services (DSS) over allegations that he called Tinubu a criminal.
Sowore urged his supporters to mobilise residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the rally, predicting the beginning of a revolution in Nigeria.
“We have a little bit of time left before Tinubu regime becomes a thing of the past. This affliction shall never happen to us the second time.
“We are coming here tomorrow and we want you to mobilise everybody. When we leave here tomorrow, we will enter into the town. Our Tinubu Must Go rally will commence tomorrow.
“Invite your brothers and friends. Everybody in Abuja, come out tomorrow. We want to do this revolution once and for all. There is a revolution currently going on in France, Spain and other countries. Why can’t we do our own in Nigeria?
“Our own time has come and we are ready for them, they will soon be shocked that we are more ready than they are,” he said.
