Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has warned that there can be “no pause” in global pressure on Russia, following another wave of missile and drone attacks across Ukraine. His remarks come just one day after the United States confirmed it had halted intelligence sharing with Kyiv.
Ukraine’s air force reported that 112 drones and two missiles were launched into the country overnight. Of these, 68 drones were shot down, while 43 were lost in flight.
The attacks caused damage across multiple regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Odesa, and Dnipropetrovsk.
One of the most devastating strikes occurred in Kryvyi Rih, Zelenskyy’s hometown, where a ballistic missile hit a hotel, killing four people and injuring over 30 others.
Zelenskyy revealed that the attack came shortly after a group of foreign humanitarian volunteers had checked into the hotel. While none were injured, sources told ABC News that two U.S. citizens were among the volunteers, working with the Freedom Trust Charity Fund and Ukraine Relief Organization.
“A ballistic missile struck an ordinary hotel,” Zelenskyy wrote on social media. “There must be no pause in the pressure on Russia to stop this war and terror against life.”
Russian missile and drone attacks have become a nightly reality in Ukraine, with the country relying heavily on Western-supplied air defense systems to intercept incoming strikes.
However, President Donald Trump’s decision to pause all U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing has raised fears that Ukraine’s air defenses could weaken in the coming weeks and months.
The aid freeze follows last week’s explosive Oval Office meeting between Trump and Zelenskyy. White House officials have suggested that the freeze could be lifted if Ukraine moves toward peace negotiations with Russia, despite Kyiv’s insistence that any deal must not come at the cost of ceding territory.
As Ukraine braces for continued Russian assaults, Zelenskyy’s call for unwavering international support underscores the stakes of Washington’s shifting stance on the war.
