Rivers Crisis: ‘God is Our Ultimate Liberator’ – Gov. Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed gratitude to God as the ultimate liberator of the state, while acknowledging the unwavering support of the people in navigating the political challenges with his predecessor and current minister, Nyesom Wike.

Speaking at the Christmas Ballad hosted by former Rivers State Governor Dr. Peter Odili in Port Harcourt on Friday, Fubara reflected on the obstacles he has overcome and how they have shaped his leadership approach.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor thanked God for providing strength and perspective during the political turmoil, emphasizing that the support of Rivers people has been vital in his resolve. “I draw my strength from each and every one of you here. Your encouragement, calls, and commitment inspire me to stand firm,” Fubara said. “But above all, the ultimate game changer and liberator remains God Almighty. With Him on our side, victory is assured.”

Fubara also reassured residents of a brighter future, vowing to make continuous progress each year. He highlighted the joy experienced during the Christmas celebrations as an indicator of a prosperous 2025 ahead. “We will continue to run a government that uplifts the state’s image, free from tyranny. Leadership is temporary, and we must ensure smooth transitions for sustained progress,” he added.

Dr. Abiye Sekibo, a former Minister of Transport, praised Fubara for embodying leadership qualities inspired by Peter Odili and successfully guiding the state on its governance path.

Dr. Odili, in his remarks, described the gathering as a celebration of Fubara’s leadership and resilience amid political challenges. Reflecting on the past year, Odili noted the unwarranted battle against Fubara, emphasizing that his triumph stands as a testament to his determination and dedication to Rivers State.

Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance, ensuring continued progress for Rivers State despite external pressures and opposition.
