Auwal Musa, the National Youth Leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of engaging in a political witch-hunt against Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Musa asserted that the EFCC has no valid justification to probe Kwankwaso. He described the investigation of the “honest and hardworking” Kwankwaso as a waste of time, suggesting that it is a move instigated by political rivals to tarnish his image.
“I challenge EFCC to come up with facts on the allegations; otherwise, we consider it an attempt to witch-hunt and victimize him,” Musa stated. He questioned the timing of the investigation, asking, “Why did the EFCC wait this long to investigate him, nine years after leaving office and also why investigate party affairs?”
Highlighting Kwankwaso’s achievements, Musa urged people to “go to Kano and see what he did as governor, check his records as a Defence Minister and a Senator.”
Musa called on the EFCC to disregard any petitions written against Kwankwaso by any politician or associate.
