George Chuku, the newly appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) in Benue State, has officially assume duty as the 40th CP in the Benue State command, according to a statement released over the weekend by the Command Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene.
The statement disclosed that Chuku, a native of Obio-Akpor LGA in Rivers State, holds a BSc in sociology from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and an LLB from the University of Calabar (Unical), being called to the bar in 2003.
Commencing his service in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on March 3, 1990, as a cadet assistant superintendent of police, Chuku served in Yobe, Delta, and Cross River states in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities.
Anene added that Chuku held positions such as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)-Administration in Akwa Ibom State, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in charge of Operations in Zone 3, Yola, Director of Legal at the Police Staff College, Jos, and DCP in charge of Operations in Ebonyi State.
Having been promoted to the rank of CP on March 9, 2022, Chuku was initially posted to Force Headquarters, Abuja, as CP Administration and Chairman of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) before being reassigned to the Force CID, where he served as CP of the Special Enquiry Bureau.
