Bomb Threat Forces Dublin-to-Rome Passenger Flight to Divert to French Military Base

A passenger plane traveling from Dublin, Ireland, to Rome, Italy, was forced to divert to a military airbase in northern France on Thursday following a reported bomb threat, French authorities confirmed.

According to the French Prime Minister’s Office, the Airbus A320 was redirected to Évreux-Fauville Air Base in Normandy as a precautionary security measure.

French officials said authorities were closely monitoring the situation as it unfolded but provided no immediate details about the nature or credibility of the threat.

Ireland’s national airline, Aer Lingus, confirmed that flight EI402, which departed Dublin for Rome on Thursday morning, had been diverted to Normandy following a security concern.

The airline said the aircraft landed safely and that arrangements were being made to assist affected passengers and transport them to their intended destination.

“The flight landed safely and Aer Lingus will work to reaccommodate customers to their final destination as soon as possible,” the airline said in a statement.

Authorities have not released further information about the reported bomb threat or whether any suspicious materials were discovered aboard the aircraft.

The incident prompted an emergency diversion, with passenger safety remaining the priority as officials continued assessing the situation.
