Kogi State Inaugurates Committee for Implementation of N70,000 Minimum Wage

The Kogi State government has set up an implementation committee to facilitate the rollout of the new national minimum wage of N70,000 for state workers. Dr. Folashade Ayoade, the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, announced this during the committee’s inauguration in Lokoja on Wednesday.

Dr. Ayoade emphasized the importance of the committee’s work, urging its members to meet expectations and develop effective strategies for the smooth implementation of the new wage. Mr. Elijah Evineme, the committee chairman and Kogi State Head of Service, assured that the committee would work diligently to fulfill its responsibilities and justify the trust placed in them.

The committee includes several key officials, such as Asiwaju Idris Asiru, Commissioner of Finance; Alhaji Ozigi Deedat, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; and Kingsley Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communication. Other members include Hajia Habitat Onumoko, the State Accountant General; Yakubu Okala, State Auditor General; Isiaka Yakubu, Local Government Auditor General; Comrade Onuh Edoka, Special Adviser on Labour Matters; and representatives from organized labor.
