Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has announced his resignation from the party, citing widespread indiscipline and anti-party activities.
Jandor made the announcement during a press briefing in Lagos on Monday, accusing some PDP leaders, including former Deputy National Chairman Chief Olabode George, of sabotaging the party’s interests in the 2023 elections. He was accompanied by a large group of supporters.
Addressing his political future, Jandor stated that he would engage in extensive consultations before deciding on his next political move.
“We will consult widely with everybody and then take the decision to collapse our structure into another platform. What is majority on the ground now is that we have left the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said.
Before joining the PDP in January 2022, Jandor was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and led the Lagos4Lagos Movement, which aimed to promote internal democracy within the party. In the 2023 gubernatorial election, he finished third behind incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC and Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party (LP).
His departure adds to the ongoing political shifts in Lagos as preparations for the next electoral cycle intensify.
