Ingrid Lewis-Martin, to Face Charges in Manhattan

Ingrid Lewis-Martin, the recently resigned chief advisor to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, is set to surrender on Thursday morning in Lower Manhattan to face charges stemming from an ongoing investigation.

Lewis-Martin will appear at the courthouse located at 100 Centre Street, accompanied by her son, Glenn Martin II, and two other individuals. The charges are reportedly linked to a $100,000 loan facilitated by the two men for Glenn Martin II to purchase a Porsche. This loan was arranged after Lewis-Martin allegedly assisted the men in resolving a buildings department issue concerning a construction project at one of their hotels.

The loan was documented with a promissory note, but it remains unclear whether the loan has been repaid.

The case against Lewis-Martin does not implicate Mayor Adams, who is dealing with separate legal challenges. However, her attorney, Arthur Aidala, has expressed skepticism about the fairness of the investigation.

Speaking earlier this week, Aidala suggested that his client was likely to be indicted on charges related to the alleged acceptance of improper gifts. “We are pretty certain that one day this week we are going to be appearing in court at 100 Centre Street,” he told reporters.

Aidala revealed that Lewis-Martin had been invited to testify before the grand jury considering the charges but declined, citing concerns about the investigation’s impartiality. “Pieces of puzzles are going to be put together to make it look as horrible as possible,” he said, while maintaining his client’s innocence.

“Ingrid Lewis-Martin never broke the law,” Aidala stated, emphasizing his confidence in her defense as he spoke alongside her at his Manhattan office.

The charges against Lewis-Martin and her co-defendants mark another high-profile case in New York’s political and legal landscape. Details of the alleged misconduct and the outcomes of the court proceedings will be closely watched in the days to come.
