Gov Otti: My Responsibility is Solely to Abians

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State marked his first anniversary in office yesterday with a town hall meeting involving the people and stakeholders of Abia Central.
The event, held at the International Conference Center Ogurube Layout in Umuahia, included representatives from Umuahia North, Ikwuano, Umuahia South, Isialangwa North, Isialangwa South, and Osisioma Local Government Areas.
In his speech titled “A Meeting with Kingmakers,” Governor Otti expressed gratitude to the people, whom he referred to as the kingmakers.
“You are the ones that made me a governor, without you I wouldn’t have been here. You are the ones we are answerable to. I therefore owe my responsibility to you all individually and collectively, noting that power belongs to God and nobody can boast of that,” he said.
Otti acknowledged the support of mayors and members of the national and state assembly for the success of the program. He assured the attendees that their concerns have been noted, emphasizing that his administration is still young and committed to changing the status quo to achieve better results.
He urged the people of the “new Abia” to be actively involved in governance by making suggestions and asking questions. He stressed that government allocations and internally generated revenue (IGR) will no longer be misappropriated, declaring, “It is not going to be business as usual.”
Governor Otti reiterated his administration’s commitment to using the state’s resources for the benefit of its people, stating, “We promised that we must use the resources of the people to work for the people.”
