Just one day after taking office, Edo State’s newly inaugurated Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has dismissed all permanent secretaries appointed from outside the state’s public service, along with other political appointees. Additionally, the governor approved the immediate dissolution of the executive boards of all state agencies and parastatals.
A statement issued by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, instructed all affected officials to promptly hand over government assets in their possession to the highest-ranking public officers in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.
Senator Okpebholo, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), assumed office on Tuesday after his victory in the September 21 governorship election. He triumphed over Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Barr. Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, securing a significant win for the APC in Edo State.
