NSA Ribadu Vows to Eradicate Lakurawa Terrorist Group in Northwest Nigeria

Nuhu Ribadu, Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), has pledged that security agencies will eliminate the Lakurawa terrorist group operating in the northwest region of the country. Ribadu made the statement in Abuja on Wednesday during the opening of the 2024 Comptroller-General of Customs Conference.

Last week, the Defence Headquarters confirmed the presence of the Lakurawa group in Sokoto and Kebbi states, noting that the group had crossed into Nigeria from Niger following the coup that disrupted military cooperation between the two nations.

On November 8, members of the Lakurawa group attacked Mera village in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi state, killing 15 people in the afternoon. Ribadu assured that the group, along with other terrorist factions, would be driven out of the country. He credited the government’s efforts under President Bola Tinubu for the decimation of Boko Haram and highlighted the progress made in combating banditry and terrorism.

“This is Nigeria of 2024, and I assure you the critics will be quiet one by one as things continue to change for the better,” Ribadu said, emphasizing that the Lakurawa group would soon be eliminated.

Representing President Tinubu at the event, Ribadu also reiterated the government’s commitment to implementing sustainable economic reforms and strengthening international partnerships to enhance Nigeria’s global trade position.
