Dangote Refinery Begins Exporting Petrol, Diesel, and Jet Fuel Globally

The Dangote Refinery has officially begun exporting Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to several countries, including Cameroon, Ghana, Angola, and South Africa. In addition to petrol, the refinery is also sending diesel and jet fuel to international markets, including Europe.

Devakumar Edwin, Vice President of Oil and Gas at Dangote Industries Limited, shared the news during a visit by a Japanese delegation led by Japan’s Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Suzuki Hideo. Edwin highlighted that the refinery’s products meet international standards, positioning Nigeria as a significant player in the global energy market.

“This facility, designed and built by Nigerians, is a testament to the vision of Aliko Dangote. We are proud to be exporting our refined products to various markets, with global demand for our petroleum products already surging,” Edwin stated.

The refinery, which is the world’s largest single-train refinery complex, incorporates advanced technologies, including equipment from Japan. Edwin expressed an eagerness for continued collaboration with Japan, particularly in the refinery’s operations and the associated Dangote Petrochemical project.

The petrochemical plant is expected to further boost Nigeria’s industrial capacity by creating jobs, generating tax revenue, and reducing dependence on imported materials like polypropylene.

The Japanese delegation commended the Dangote Refinery, with Takashi Oku, Managing Director of the Japan External Trade Organisation, calling it a “gateway to Africa” and a symbol of Nigeria’s technological and economic strides. Masahiro Tsuno, Managing Director of Itochu Nigeria Limited, described the facility as a “miracle,” praising its size and automation.

With these developments, Dangote Refinery reaffirms Nigeria’s position as a key player in the global energy market and as a leader in industrial innovation on the African continent.
