APC Never Promised Instant Miracles — Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has said the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government never promised Nigerians instant solutions to the country’s challenges, insisting that its focus remains on delivering long-term and sustainable progress.

Akpabio made the remarks on Friday during the inauguration of a seven-kilometre road and bridge project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

His comments come amid growing public concern over the rising cost of living, driven largely by the removal of fuel subsidy and other economic reforms introduced by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Defending the government’s approach, the Senate President said the administration had remained committed to implementing the Renewed Hope Agenda through carefully planned reforms rather than quick fixes.

“When we came into office, we did not promise you miracles that would appear from thin air. We promised structural, calculated and deliberate progress.

“We promised a Renewed Hope Agenda that will touch the lives of every Nigerian citizen, not just in economic statistics but in the reality of their daily struggles,” he said.

Akpabio maintained that the government is pursuing a long-term development strategy aimed at delivering lasting benefits to Nigerians despite current economic difficulties.
