Senate President Godswill Akpabio has disassociated himself from a rally scheduled for April 4 in Akwa Ibom State, allegedly organized in his name by a group called the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR), led by Ubong Idemudo.
In a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio stated that he had no prior knowledge of the rally and did not authorize it. He described the event as a ploy by fifth columnists aiming to manipulate his name for self-serving and potentially disruptive purposes.
“The planned rally, from information pieced together, is the handiwork of fifth columnists trying to use the name of the Senate President to achieve their devilish goal,” the statement read.
Akpabio further condemned the event as “satanic” and called on security agencies in the state to ensure it does not take place.
“The police and other security agencies in the state are by this statement directed to ensure that such satanic rally is not allowed to hold, as such has no approval of the Senate President,” the statement added.
Reaffirming his commitment to peace and stability in Akwa Ibom and across Nigeria, the Senate President warned against political mischief disguised as support, urging citizens to remain vigilant and not be swayed by deceptive political tactics.
