Dangote Wins Road Safety Excellence Award

Stakeholders in the transport sector have commended the Dangote Group for its commitment to road safety and responsible transportation after the conglomerate received the Road Safety Corporate Excellence Award from the Kogi State Government.

The award recognises the company’s sustained support for initiatives aimed at reducing road accidents, protecting lives and promoting safer highways across Nigeria.

Presenting the award, Atuluku Levi said the recognition celebrates Dangote Group’s outstanding contributions to road safety and its collaboration with government and regulatory agencies to improve safety along one of Nigeria’s most strategic transportation corridors.

He noted that the company’s longstanding partnership with the state government and road safety agencies has helped promote responsible road use, improve driver safety awareness and strengthen Nigeria’s transportation ecosystem.

“As one of Nigeria’s largest industrial conglomerates and a major user of the nation’s road network, the Group has continued to champion safety standards across its logistics and transport operations,” he said.

Receiving the award on behalf of the company’s management, Assistant Divisional Director of Dangote Cement Transport (DCT), Obajana, Abdullahi Aliyu, thanked the Kogi State Government and road safety stakeholders for the honour.

“This award reflects Dangote Group’s unwavering commitment to safety as a core value across all our operations. We remain dedicated to supporting initiatives that promote safer roads, protect lives and contribute to sustainable economic development,” Aliyu said.

He added that road safety is a shared responsibility requiring continuous collaboration among government, corporate organisations and road users.

“At Dangote, we believe that every journey should end safely. We will continue to invest in safety awareness, driver training and responsible transport practices that help make our highways safer for all users,” he stated.

The recognition comes shortly after Dangote Cement Transport inaugurated an ultra-modern drivers’ lounge at its Ibese plant in Ogun State to provide drivers with a conducive environment to rest and refresh before and after every trip.

The Head of Dangote Cement Transport, Murilo Silva, urged drivers to maximise the facility to reduce fatigue through adequate rest and maintain a sound state of mind.

Stakeholders at the event also praised private sector organisations supporting road safety campaigns, noting that stronger collaboration between government and industry remains crucial to improving transportation safety across Nigeria.
