Aiyedatiwa Announces Three-Day Mourning Period Following Akeredolu’s Demise

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has officially declared a three-day mourning period in the state to honor his late predecessor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. 
The announcement came through a press release on Wednesday in Akure, as conveyed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.
In line with Aiyedatiwa’s declaration, the mourning period, accompanied by fasting and prayer, is set to begin on Thursday, December 28, and extend until Saturday, December 30, 2023.
The governor emphasized that during this time, all national flags should be flown at half-mast, symbolizing the state’s solemn atmosphere, and this practice should be observed for a duration of seven days.
Additionally, Governor Aiyedatiwa has suspended all state government ceremonies throughout the mourning period.
“The statement also mentioned the opening of condolence registers at the Governor’s Office, the Government House in Akure, and the State Liaison Offices in Lagos and Abuja.”
“May the soul of our late leader rest in perfect peace, amen,” the statement concluded.
