Wike: Fubara Has Corrected His Mistakes

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, had no option but to return to the political family that brought him to power, describing the reconciliation between them as a correction of past mistakes.

Wike made the remarks on Tuesday while inspecting ongoing road projects across the Federal Capital Territory, insisting that Fubara committed no offence by reconciling with his political camp.

The former Rivers State governor also dismissed suggestions that the reconciliation should be viewed as an act of forgiveness after years of political disagreements.

“He has no option but to return to the political family that made him. I don’t know what you mean by sin. In politics, there is no sin. If someone realises they made a mistake and decides to correct it, there is nothing wrong with that.

Politics is not a sin. What matters is recognising that you were on the wrong path and making the right decision,” Wike said.

He further recalled that he had predicted the reconciliation before Governor Fubara publicly announced it.

According to Wike, Fubara’s public declaration of reconciliation would also strengthen ongoing efforts to rally support for President Bola Tinubu’s second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
