The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s time in office is coming to an end, expressing confidence that the party will reclaim the Osun State Government House in the August 15 governorship election.
The declaration was made during the inauguration of the party’s 291-member Osun State Governorship National Campaign Council in Abuja, where APC leaders described the poll as a crucial test ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the event, APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, said the calibre of party leaders mobilised for the campaign leaves little doubt about the party’s chances of victory.
“Looking at the calibre of people we have selected in this room—from the governors to members of the National Assembly, members of the National Working Committee, and all the committees represented here—nothing will stop us from taking over the Government House on August 15, 2026,” he said.
Yilwatda likened the APC’s political strength to “a trailer facing a keke,” insisting that the opposition in Osun would struggle to withstand the party’s mobilisation.
He also unveiled a door-to-door campaign strategy covering all 3,762 polling units in the state, with governors, federal lawmakers, women leaders and local party structures assigned specific responsibilities across the three senatorial districts.
Chairman of the campaign council and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, described the assignment as a responsibility requiring discipline, sacrifice and measurable results.
“Our assignment is clear: to listen to the people of Osun State, speak to their hopes and aspirations, earn their confidence and convince them to vote for the APC and our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. We will return Osun to the progressive fold,” Uzodimma said.
He pledged that the APC would run an issue-based campaign, promising to counter criticism with facts and performance rather than engage in political mudslinging.
The party’s governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, thanked President Bola Tinubu and the party’s National Working Committee for assembling a high-powered campaign team.
Oyebamiji said engagements across the state’s 30 local government areas and 332 political wards had convinced him that Osun residents were ready for a change in government.
“Across all our engagements, one message has been consistent and clear: the people of Osun State can no longer afford to endure another day of the current administration in the state,” he said.
He added that the APC was prepared to align Osun with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, insisting that the state was ready to return to what he described as progressive governance.
The inauguration attracted members of the APC National Working Committee, governors, National Assembly leaders, members of the Federal Executive Council and other party stakeholders from across the country.
