Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says the ongoing delivery of infrastructure projects across Abuja is the Tinubu administration’s strongest campaign message ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Wednesday after inspecting the Arterial Road N16 and the Tunga Madaki–Zuba Road projects, Wike said his administration would remain focused on delivering critical infrastructure despite growing political activities.
According to the minister, the government’s performance on infrastructure provides a verifiable record that can be presented to Nigerians.
“Voters are more interested in tangible results than political rhetoric,” Wike said, adding that the administration has fulfilled many of its promises through ongoing development projects.
Expressing satisfaction with the progress of the Arterial Road N16, which links Jahi, Gwarimpa and Karsana, Wike said the contractor, CBC Global, had assured the government that the project would be completed by January.
He pledged that adequate funding would be provided to ensure the deadline is met.
The minister also commended the pace of work on the 7.3-kilometre Tunga Madaki–Zuba Road, being constructed by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
Despite weather-related challenges, he said the contractor remains on course to deliver the project by December.
Wike disclosed that approval had been granted for the relocation of electricity poles along the route to facilitate the installation of streetlights.
He further praised Chinese construction firms handling projects in the FCT, noting that many commence work without waiting for mobilisation funds because of their confidence in the government’s ability to honour contractual obligations.
The minister assured residents that funding for critical infrastructure projects would remain a priority and urged contractors to maintain quality standards while meeting agreed completion timelines.
According to Wike, the regular inspection of projects by the FCT Administration is aimed at ensuring the timely delivery of infrastructure under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while accelerating development across the nation’s capital.
