Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South Senatorial District, has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of bypassing the National Assembly in the acquisition of a new presidential jet. Speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Monday, Abaribe revealed that he was neither informed nor consulted about the decision.
Criticizing the lack of transparency, Abaribe stated, “I am in the National Assembly, but I can tell you for a fact that nobody brought any documents to us for the approval of a new plane. It was done without my knowledge.” He expressed concern over the absence of National Assembly involvement in the approval process.
Abaribe also raised concerns about the administration’s policies, which he believes fail to address the challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians. He argued that many decisions appear disconnected from the realities of the public.
The senator questioned the need for a new presidential jet, calling it an unnecessary expense. “Why should somebody just wake up and say that even the one the Vice President is using is not good? We need another one,” Abaribe remarked.
He reiterated the need for fiscal responsibility, urging leaders to “cut their coat according to their cloth” and avoid overspending in a country with limited resources.
