Tinubu Vows to Crush Banditry, Rescue Oyo Kidnap Victims

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to eliminate banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the country, assuring Nigerians that every available measure is being deployed to secure the safe rescue of abducted victims in Oyo State.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, during the inauguration of the remodelled Premier Hotel in Ibadan, the President said the Federal Government is working closely with security agencies and international partners to ensure the safe release of those kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area.

“Our administration is taking every realistic measure, including international collaboration, to ensure that the kidnapped victims in Oriire Local Government are safely rescued,” he said.

Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies, stressing that traditional rulers and faith-based organisations have a critical role to play in strengthening the nation’s security architecture.

“Undoubtedly, there is a huge role for traditional and faith-based institutions to play in this regard, and I urge them to take the lead through the various channels provided by government,” he said.

The President also said ongoing improvements in security, infrastructure, and economic reforms are making Nigeria increasingly attractive to investors and tourists.

“As guests look forward to using this magnificent facility from within Nigeria and from different parts of the world, they should be assured that our nation is becoming increasingly secure, increasingly connected, and increasingly open for business.

“The combination of improved security, expanding infrastructure, economic reforms and strategic investments such as this Premier Hotel conveys a strong message that Nigeria is moving steadily towards a more prosperous future,” he added.

On the economy, Tinubu acknowledged that the country continues to face longstanding structural challenges but maintained that his administration’s reforms are beginning to deliver measurable results.

“The reforms we have undertaken are laying the foundation for a stronger, more competitive and more resilient economy.

“The signs of progress are becoming increasingly evident. Investor confidence is improving, strategic investments are growing, and key sectors of the economy are showing renewed momentum. Our foreign reserves have also attained their highest level in two decades,” he said.

The President appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the government’s reform agenda, expressing confidence that sustained collaboration would deliver long-term economic growth and shared prosperity.
