The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld Governor Bala Mohammed of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the governorship election held on March 18 in the state.

The panel of three justices has unanimously upheld Bala’s victory in the appeal made by Ambassador Sadique Abubakar, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state. This appeal challenged the victory of Governor Bala Mohammed, the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the election held on March 18, 2023. The Election Petition Tribunal in Bauchi had previously affirmed Governor Bala Mohammed’s election. Commenting on the verdict, the Bauchi state deputy governor, Mohammed Auwal Jatau welcomed the Appeal Court verdict which affirmed their successful victory with Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 governorship election in the state.

Auwal Jatau said the victory at the court does not only affirm the strength of democracy, but solidifies the commitment of the present administration of Governor Bala Mohammed towards the progress, development, and the general well being of the good people of the state. Auwal according to statement by his media aide, Malam Muslim Lawal in Bauchi on Friday, said the resounding victory at the appeal court is a triumph for all the people of the state as it signifies the PDP led administration’s collective endeavors in advancing good governance, providing quality education, ensuring accessible healthcare, fostering economic growth, and promoting peace and unity.

“I want to also express my sincere appreciation to the Appeal Court for ensuring a fair and transparent judicial process. The verdict is a testament to the efficacy of our justice system and its commitment to upholding the principles of justice, equity, and the rule of law. Our Governor’s victory is a victory for progress, for the downtrodden, and for every citizen who has entrusted their hopes and dreams to our administration.”

Auwal Jatau expressed confidence in the PDP-led administration’s dedication to the well-being of the people of Bauchi state and the progress of the state. He emphasized that the victory serves as a renewed motivation to intensify efforts, maintain focus, and fulfill campaign commitments.
