President Tinubu Appoints New National Coordinator For National Counter-Terrorism Centre

President Bola Tinubu has authorized the appointment of Major-General Adamu Garba Laka (rtd) as the new National Coordinator of the National Counter-Terrorism Centre.
The announcement was made through a statement issued on Tuesday by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, highlighting the strategic importance of the appointment within the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
General Laka brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served in various capacities in Nigeria’s North-East region, where he executed tactical operations to degrade terrorist groups.
His extensive military career also includes deployments to Sierra Leone and the Democratic Republic of Congo as part of United Nations peacekeeping missions. Additionally, General Laka contributed to the Nigerian contingent during the US Africa Command (AFRICOM) exercise in Senegal.
The statement listed General Laka’s academic qualifications, noting his Master’s Degrees in National Security from the National Defence University in Pakistan, as well as in International Affairs and Strategic Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy.
President Tinubu expressed confidence in General Laka’s ability to leverage his broad expertise in combating security threats through proactive and diligent counter-terrorism coordination.
General Laka’s appointment comes at a crucial juncture as Nigeria continues its efforts to mitigate the impact of terrorism and safeguard the welfare of its citizens.
