Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo says the 2.5 million votes promised for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections will be driven by the development projects being carried out across the state.
Speaking during an inspection of the ongoing ultra-modern Jattu Market in Etsako West LGA, the governor described the project as a major investment that will boost trade and economic growth in Edo State.
“People wonder how we will get the 2.5 million votes, but they forget that this government is doing a lot for Edo people. Our votes will come from the numerous projects we have embarked upon for the benefit of our people,” he said.
Okpebholo, who toured the site alongside Minister of Regional Development Abubakar Momoh, former governor Adams Oshiomhole and other officials, said the market would serve Edo North and other parts of the country.
Oshiomhole defended the project’s cost, saying critics would understand its value if they considered the scale and quality of the construction.
The Edo State Government added that the Jattu Market redevelopment is part of a wider plan to modernise markets across the state, including Oba Market in Benin and Ekpoma Modern Market.
